Cultural Exchange: PM Modi Celebrates Bhojpuri Music and India-Caribbean Bonds in Trinidad & Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago warmly received Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a traditional Bhojpuri Chautaal performance, showcasing the strong cultural ties between India and the Caribbean nation. During his visit, PM Modi met with the Indian community, recognizing their role in the country’s progress. In a social media post, PM Modi wrote of his joy at experiencing the Bhojpuri Chautaal performance in Port of Spain, noting the connection between Trinidad & Tobago and India, particularly eastern UP and Bihar. PM Modi shared a video of the cultural performance on his official X account. He also acknowledged the diaspora’s success and cultural preservation. PM Modi engaged with the winners of the Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz, and his visit is the first bilateral one by an Indian Prime Minister to the Caribbean nation since 1999. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and other officials welcomed PM Modi, who was also given a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
