Cyclone Remal Aizawl. 22 people have died in Mizoram due to torrential rains and landslides caused by cyclone Remal. Out of these, 13 people died due to collapse of a stone mine. Many people are still missing. Relief and rescue operations are underway.
The state government has confirmed the death of 13 people including two children in the stone quarry collapse incident on the southern outskirts of Aizawl city. Eight others are missing. Several houses and labour camps collapsed in the landslide incidents. At least 21 people are buried under the debris. Aizawl has been cut off from the rest of the country due to the closure of major roads due to landslides.
