The Taliban government in Afghanistan has prohibited the teaching of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution within universities, asserting that it clashes with Islamic ideology. The Minister of Higher Education, Neda Mohammad Nadeem, stated the decision during a conference on higher education in Herat city. He criticized the previous administrations for allowing universities to teach subjects that were seen as morally corrupt and against Islamic tenets. The conference saw participation from scholars and researchers representing numerous countries, including India, Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkey, Bangladesh, the UK, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, along with delegates from both public and private universities.
