Balochistan witnessed a series of deadly attacks against Pakistani military personnel, with the BLA and BLF claiming responsibility. The BLA’s Fateh Squad launched a suicide attack on a military transport bus in Kalat, leading to the deaths of 27 soldiers and injuries to others. The BLF also reported attacks, including an IED explosion in Kalat and an ambush in Awaran. The Awaran ambush resulted in the death of six soldiers, including Major Syed Rab Nawaz Tariq. The BLF also reported that a military unit had been ambushed in Gujro Kor area of Awaran, killing six in total, including Major Syed Rab Nawaz Tariq from Muzaffarabad. The BLA stated that the bus was transporting personnel from Karachi to Quetta. The insurgent groups deny the state media’s claims of their fighters being killed and maintain that the violence is ongoing, despite Islamabad’s claims to have controlled the rebellion. These events underscore the continuing struggle for a secular independence from Pakistan that has persisted in Balochistan for decades.
