Starting September 1st, Air India will temporarily cease its non-stop flights connecting Delhi and Washington DC. This operational adjustment is due to fleet limitations, primarily caused by the retrofitting of 26 Boeing 787-8 aircraft. This significant upgrade, aimed at improving passenger experience, will reduce the availability of aircraft through late 2026. Further complicating matters, the continued closure of Pakistan’s airspace adds to operational difficulties by necessitating longer flight paths. Customers with existing bookings after this date will be contacted and offered alternative arrangements, including rebooking or full refunds. Passengers can still utilize one-stop flights to Washington DC via New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Chicago, and San Francisco with partner airlines.
