US Air Force Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse was removed from his post as Chief of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) by the Pentagon on August 22. The decision comes in the wake of a preliminary DIA report that challenged President Trump’s statement that US strikes in June had eliminated Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Kruse’s dismissal adds to a pattern of personnel changes within the administration, including the removal of Gen. Timothy D. Haugh from the National Security Agency (NSA). Senator Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, voiced concerns, suggesting the move reflects a trend of the administration valuing loyalty over objective intelligence assessments.
