Former President Donald Trump indicated that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg could be considering a move into American politics. Trump made the suggestion during a dinner with tech executives at the White House. During the meeting, a journalist asked Zuckerberg about freedom of expression in the UK, which made Zuckerberg appear uneasy. Trump then stated that this was the start of Zuckerberg’s political career and that he would get better at public speaking over time. This follows a trend, as Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has previously been involved in politics with Trump. Axios reported that Zuckerberg said he didn’t expect those types of questions. Zuckerberg is 41 years old and was born in New York. Several other tech figures, such as Vivek Ramaswamy, have entered US politics. At the dinner, Zuckerberg also mentioned Meta’s planned investment of $600 billion by 2028. The dinner, described as successful by Trump, addressed the operations of tech companies in the era of AI. Elon Musk was invited to the dinner but sent a representative instead.
