In a notable statement, former RAW chief Amarjit Singh Dulat lauded Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir’s recent meeting in the United States and proposed a meeting between Munir and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dulat, in an exclusive interview, acknowledged the frozen nature of relations between India and Pakistan but remained optimistic about a possible improvement. Drawing parallels between Modi’s visit to Pakistan for a wedding and Munir’s US visit, Dulat suggested that Pakistan should also take steps to mend ties. He congratulated Field Marshal Munir and proposed that a meeting be organized at Hyderabad House followed by a visit to Amritsar. Dulat believes this could ease tensions. He expressed his view that a meeting between the two leaders could bring about a positive change in the relationship between the countries. He highlighted that the meeting between Munir and US officials could serve as a precedent for such a meeting in Delhi.
