A catastrophic hot-air balloon crash in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina has claimed the lives of eight people. The balloon burst into flames mid-air before crashing in the Praia Grande area, a popular destination for scenic balloon rides. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, with the balloon carrying 21 people, including the pilot. First responders, including fire crews and emergency medical services, arrived at the scene to assist survivors, with 13 individuals receiving medical attention. The Governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello, expressed his sorrow, describing the event as a tragedy. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and the subsequent crash. The Brazilian President offered his support to the families affected by the accident, promising assistance from federal and state resources. This event occurred just days after another balloon incident in Sao Paulo state that resulted in casualties.
