During the Asian Weightlifting Championship in Gandhinagar, India, on May 16, China achieved a remarkable feat by winning eight gold medals and one silver across three weight classes.
Liao Guifang captured all three gold medals in the women’s 77kg class, recording 118kg in snatch, 147kg in clean and jerk, and a total of 265kg. Her performance exemplified the high standards maintained by Chinese athletes.
Thu Yi won three golds in the men’s 94kg category with a snatch of 175kg, clean and jerk of 211kg, and a total of 386kg. His powerful execution helped elevate China’s medal tally significantly.
Feng Chuiting earned two golds and one silver in the women’s 86kg event, achieving 127kg in snatch, 143kg in clean and jerk, and 270kg total. Bahrain’s Marushchak won the clean and jerk gold with 145kg.
After four days, China has 16 gold, 11 silver, and 8 bronze medals, solidifying their status as a global leader in weightlifting.
