Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet with Donald Trump in Washington D.C., with a host of European leaders joining him. The meeting, which follows Trump’s prior discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, aims to discuss ending the conflict with Russia. European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and others, will be present to support Zelensky. The meeting is of importance given the previous strained relations between Trump and Zelensky and the recent summit between Trump and Putin in Alaska. In the previous meeting, Trump had a contentious encounter with Zelensky. The European leaders will be accompanying Zelensky. Trump’s meeting with Putin reportedly did not yield any ceasefire agreement, and experts suggest that Putin exerted significant influence during their discussion. Discussions are expected to revolve around the conflict and potential resolutions, with Zelensky maintaining his stance against territorial concessions.
