The ‘dusting’ trend has claimed the life of 19-year-old Renna O’Rourke in Arizona. The young woman suffered a cardiac arrest after inhaling keyboard cleaner and was later declared brain dead after being in the ICU for four days. Her father revealed that the cleaning product was acquired by her boyfriend without the family’s knowledge. ‘Dusting,’ which involves inhaling household cleaners for a perceived high, is a dangerous practice that can lead to heart failure. Renna’s family is now actively working to warn others about the dangers of ‘dusting.’ Renna’s mother emphasized the easy accessibility of such cleaners and the need for parental vigilance, suggesting parents should check their children’s rooms and online activities. A GoFundMe page has been launched to assist with medical bills and therapy. A similar event happened in the UK in March 2024 where a boy passed away after inhaling toxic substances.
