Worldwide unease surrounding the negative impact of social media on children is growing. A committee of French parliamentarians has called for a ban on social media platforms for children under 15 years old. In addition, the committee suggested a digital curfew for teenagers aged 15 to 18. The proposal was made in a report the committee prepared after gathering information from families, social media officials, and influencers.
President Emmanuel Macron’s office has previously hinted at potential restrictions for children and young teenagers. Australia is also in the process of formulating legislation, with the aim of imposing restrictions on individuals under 16 years old.
