Carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions significantly contribute to global warming and climate change, causing environmental and health issues. China leads the world in CO₂ emissions, with approximately 11.9 billion metric tons released in 2023. The United States is the second-highest emitter, producing 4.9 billion metric tons of CO₂. The US has decreased its emissions by around 13% since 2010. However, China’s emissions rose by 38% during the same period. India is the third largest emitter, releasing 3 billion metric tons in 2023. Russia and Japan are also major contributors, with 1.8 billion and 0.988 billion metric tons, respectively. Despite the growing crisis, China aims to cut carbon emissions by 7-10% by 2035.
