Israeli authorities detained a group of activists, including Greta Thunberg, who were attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The aid flotilla was stopped by the Israeli navy on Wednesday. The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed the detention of the activists. This was the most recent attempt to circumvent Israel’s blockade of Gaza, which has faced extensive destruction following a protracted war. The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced on social media that the boats from the Hamas-Sumud flotilla had been intercepted and the passengers were being taken to an Israeli port. The ministry further assured that Greta Thunberg and the other detainees were safe and well.
