India and Maldives Strengthen Bonds at Independence Day Celebrations

Malé hosted the 60th Independence Day celebrations of the Maldives, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the honored guest. The event took place at Republic Square, with President Mohamed Muizzu in attendance. During the visit, PM Modi held discussions with leaders from diverse political parties in the Maldives. He also met with key figures such as Vice President Hussain Mohammed Latheef. Discussions centered around mutual respect, shared values, and cultural and economic exchanges that have long defined the relationship between the two nations. Prime Minister Modi underscored India’s commitment to supporting the Maldives’ aspirations, fostering collaboration in various areas, and working towards global betterment. The discussions further focused on strengthening the bond between the citizens of both nations and promoting cooperation across various sectors, in addition to the recent establishment of the India-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group.
