In a powerful address at the OIC executive committee in Jeddah, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman condemned Israel’s land acquisition law as a brazen power play in Palestinian occupied lands. The policy, which opens West Bank registries and eases purchases, is viewed as a tool to forcibly alter demographics and claim territory illegally.
Dr. Rahman highlighted the law’s threat to Al-Quds Al-Sharif and broader Palestinian heritage, describing it as harassment masked as reform. He renewed Bangladesh’s pledge for an independent Palestine via two-state talks on 1967 borders, demanding a lasting Gaza truce and free aid flow to the vulnerable.
These steps, he argued, corrode international law and sabotage peace foundations. Rejecting the legislation entirely, he called for robust defenses of Palestinian ownership.
Conveying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Ramadan greetings to Muslims worldwide, Dr. Rahman voiced enthusiasm for collaborative ventures with OIC partners post-Bangladesh’s elections. Engaging bilaterally with ministers from Pakistan, Gambia, Palestine, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, he fostered alliances against the backdrop of turmoil.
Through this outspoken critique, Bangladesh emerges as a vocal champion for Palestinian rights, pressing for diplomatic breakthroughs in a volatile landscape.
