Diplomatic efforts to foster peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan have hit a significant snag in Istanbul. Following three days of negotiations, a deadlock has emerged, with both sides blaming the other for the lack of progress. The key sticking point is Pakistan’s insistence on guarantees against the use of Afghan soil for militant activities targeting Pakistan. Despite Turkey’s persistent mediation, no concrete agreement has been reached, leaving the recently established ceasefire in a precarious state.
