During the UNGA, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar shed light on the evolving trends in global employment, noting the emergence of a global workforce designed to meet current demands. Speaking at the ORF online panel discussion in New York, he explored the theme of “The Heart of Development: Aid, Trade & Technology.” Jaishankar outlined four significant trends: the mutually reinforcing nature of self-reliance, technology adoption, multipolarity, and South-South cooperation, which are reshaping the global environment. He also emphasized the global workforce’s adaptation to contemporary needs, reflecting changes in skills, mobility, and digital abilities. In addition, he underscored the need for adaptable trade arrangements and resilient pathways to overcome obstacles to trade, leveraging physical and digital efficiencies.
