Five Israeli civilians were killed and 15 wounded, with seven in serious condition, in a shooting in the Ramot area of Jerusalem. The attack, which saw two assailants open fire near a crowded bus stop, prompted an immediate response from security forces, who fatally shot the gunmen. Hamas lauded the shooting as a courageous act. Following the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called an emergency security meeting. Law enforcement is working to identify the attackers, who are believed to be Palestinian residents of the West Bank. The incident is the deadliest shooting in Israel since October 2024. The National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The Jerusalem District Court has postponed a hearing in the Netanyahu case. The Israeli army has increased patrols in Palestinian villages near Ramallah.
