Bob Rae, reflecting on the 40th anniversary of the Kanishka bombing, called on Canadians to acknowledge the terror attack’s Canadian origins. Speaking from Cork, where Air India Flight 182 crashed after being bombed by Babbar Khalsa, Rae stressed that the planning and execution occurred within Canada’s borders. He underscored the significance of the tragedy in Canadian history. Alongside Rae, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and other dignitaries honored the victims of the bombing, which resulted in 329 fatalities. The event served as a stark reminder of the need for global intolerance towards terrorism and violent extremism. Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin also offered poignant remarks, highlighting the enduring grief of the victims’ families.
