A book entitled ‘Palestinian Referendum’ was launched at the international book fair in Baghdad, Iraq. The book promotes Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s proposition for a referendum as a solution to the Palestinian problem. Khamenei believes that Israel can be compelled to accept the concept of a referendum.
The book focuses on three crucial points: The return of non-native residents to their homelands; voting rights for all Palestinians, irrespective of their religious affiliations (Muslim, Christian, or Jewish); and the continuation of the conflict until Israel yields to the Palestinian people.
Following the book launch, Khamenei wrote on social media X that any plan concerning Palestine, devised without the Palestinians’ consent, is destined to fail. The Palestinians’ views must determine the governance of the region. The referendum should solicit the opinions of all Palestinians.
Khamenei emphasized the inclusion of opinions from those forcibly displaced from Palestine, regardless of their religious background. They should have the right to determine their country’s governance. Palestinians should persist in their political and military struggle to secure their rights. Persistent resistance, according to Khamenei, can force the Israeli government to concede.
The Arabic version of the book was also released at the event. The launch was attended by notable figures including Prof. Sayyed Jasim Al-Jazairi, Mohammad Al-Hafi from Hamas, Iranian Deputy Ambassador Dr. Aziz Panah, former PMF commander Sheikh Abu Aqeel Al-Kazimi, Dr. Mohammad Akhghari, the father of martyr Ahmad Al-Muhanna, and the injured Gazan woman Asmahan Jumah. The Arabic translation became available on Saturday.
