The way police officers work is not right- Supreme Court

During the hearing on the Kolkata case, the judge asked when was the Panchnama done? Has any officer from the CBI come? The Solicitor General told that the Joint Director has come here. On this the judge asked that Madam, can you explain to us why there is so much difference in the records. Sibal tried to intervene. On this the judge said that the procedure adopted by your police is different from the Criminal Procedure Code. I have not seen such a thing in my 30 years of career. The way your police officer worked was not right at all. The Chief Justice said that the diary entry shows that the crime scene was preserved after the post-mortem.

Questions raised on delay in filing FIR, government reprimanded

Justice JB Pardiwala asked the Bengal government’s lawyer Kapil Sibal to tell him when the postmortem took place. To this Sibal replied that it was between 6:10 pm and 7:10 pm. The judge said that when you were lifting the body, you knew that it was an unnatural death. Yet the FIR was filed at 11:45 pm. It is surprising that the FIR was filed after the postmortem.

On this, Sibal said that as per my information, unnatural death was also registered at 1.45 pm. Justice Pardiwala said to Sibal that please answer responsibly. You just have to look at your documents and then answer. It is taking so much time. Ask a responsible police officer to be present here on the next date, who can answer our questions.

Justice Pardiwala said- I have not seen anything like this in my 30 years of career

During this, Justice JB Pardiwala also said that I have not seen such an incident in 30 years. He said that the police did not follow the correct procedure in this case. The court also said that when it was known in the morning that this was a case of unnatural investigation, then why was there a delay in marking and cordoning off the crime scene. On this, Kapil Sibal said that this is not the case. The entire crime scene was also videographed.
