The passing of Lord Swraj Paul, the founder of the Caparo Group, has been announced. He was 94 years old and died in London. Lord Paul was well-known for his involvement in the Indian community in the UK and his consistent presence in the House of Lords. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his profound sadness at the death of the NRI industrialist, Swaraj Paul, recognizing his valuable contributions to philanthropy and public service. He was originally from Jalandhar and moved to the UK in the 1960s to seek medical care for his younger daughter Ambika. After Ambika’s death at age four, he created the Ambika Paul Foundation, which has donated extensively to support education and health programs for children and youth. Lord Paul remained dedicated to his charitable work even after losing his son Angad Paul in 2015 and his wife Aruna in 2022.
