Howard Lutnick, the US Commerce Secretary, has stated his expectation that India will offer an apology and seek a trade deal with the United States. Lutnick believes India will realize the necessity of the US market for its economic advancement. During a television interview, he compared India’s situation to Canada’s approach, highlighting Canada’s willingness to change its position to secure a trade agreement with the US based on economic realities. Lutnick anticipated India would initiate negotiations soon, expressing regret and aiming for a deal with Donald Trump, with the final terms being decided by Trump and how he wants to deal with Modi. This comes after former US President Donald Trump commented on social media that the US has lost India and Russia to China. Trump’s statement followed the gathering of India, Russia, and China at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Tianjin. Trump accompanied his statement with a past image featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Previously, Trump accused Chinese President Xi Jinping of allegedly acting against America after the presence of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin at China’s largest military parade.
