In a disturbing development, five Indian citizens engaged in electrification work have been kidnapped in Mali. The abduction took place near Kobri on Thursday, amidst a period of heightened terrorist activity and instability in the country. Mali’s government has pointed fingers at al-Qaeda and the Islamic State for the pervasive unrest. Efforts are underway to locate the abducted individuals. A company representative confirmed the kidnapping, noting that other Indian employees have been moved to safety in Bamako.
