Amidst the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs has taken steps to safeguard Indian citizens in Tehran. Indian students have been moved out of the city for safety, facilitated by the Indian Embassy. The MEA has also recommended that Indian residents who can arrange their transport leave Tehran. Additionally, some Indians have been helped to depart Iran through the Armenian border. The Indian Embassy in Iran has provided contact numbers for any Indian nationals in Tehran who are not yet in contact with the embassy. The ongoing conflict has resulted in a significant loss of life, with 224 casualties in Iran and 24 in Israel after five days of fighting.
