The Australia Today’s post on X described the event as a “disturbance” outside the Consul General of India’s office, reporting that “Khalistani ‘goons’ reportedly created a ruckus.” The post also highlighted that the peaceful celebrations were interrupted. Local authorities were present and monitoring the situation. The flag hoisting ceremony was led by Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar, and attended by Hon. Brad Batin, MP, Cr Pradeep Tiwari, Mayor of Marybyrong, and members of the Indian diaspora. The day included patriotic songs and a shared desire to strengthen India–Australia relations.
