The recent shooting that claimed the lives of two West Virginia National Guard members has ignited fierce criticism from former President Donald Trump, who is directly blaming President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the tragedy. Trump argues that the administration’s failure to implement rigorous vetting for immigrants has led to dangerous individuals entering the country. “This monster who carried out the attack in DC should never have been in this country,” stated the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), condemning the Biden administration’s immigration policies as “national self-sabotage.” The DHS has suspended all immigration processing for Afghan nationals indefinitely, citing the need to reassess security protocols. National Guard Secretary Kristi Noem pointed fingers directly at President Biden, emphasizing that the suspect’s path to U.S. residency began under his leadership. She stated, “The consequences of the shooting and the death of Sarah are directly on the shoulders of Joe Biden and his administration.” The alleged attacker, Lakanwal, a former member of an elite Afghan Army force, arrived in the U.S. in 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome.
