Waiel Awwad, a senior journalist and foreign affairs expert, has denounced NATO’s warning of sanctions against India, China, and Brazil due to their trade relations with Russia. Awwad sees this as a strategy employed by the United States to exert pressure on Moscow, considering the US’s failure to isolate Russia over the past three years. According to Awwad, the US is aware that the conflict will persist and will supply more sophisticated weapons. NATO chief Mark Rutte, supported by US Senators, called on India, China, and Brazil to reassess their economic relationships with Russia, with secondary sanctions threatened if Russia does not participate in peace negotiations concerning Ukraine. This stance aligns with the previous statements of Trump, who considered imposing heavy tariffs on nations trading with Russia. Furthermore, US Senators Graham and Blumenthal are backing for legislation which would impose substantial penalties on countries economically supporting Russia.
