The Ministry of External Affairs has named Nita Bhushan, 1994 IFS batch, as the new face of India in Poland. Relinquishing her High Commissioner role in New Zealand, Bhushan heads to Warsaw, poised to strengthen longstanding ties.
A diplomat par excellence, her portfolio boasts service in Japan, Germany, UAE, Bangladesh. She adeptly managed as Abu Dhabi Dy. Chief of Mission and Chicago’s Consul General (2017-19), leading Midwest advocacy for a decade of states.
Elevated to Additional Secretary (Central Europe) in MEA, she shaped policies for 30 nations. Deputed to Finance (2009-13), she drove economic diplomacy with Europe. Bhushan also helmed Development Partnerships, Japan-Korea desk, and lectured at NDC.
Her credentials: Economics Honours from DU’s Hindu College, M.Phil from Madras University. New Zealand posting since Sept 2022 included Pacific oversight for Cook Islands et al.
Diplomatic links with Poland began 1954; Warsaw mission 1957. Enduring friendship post-Poland’s democracy shift. PM Modi’s August 22, 2024, visit marked a milestone after 45 years.
