The first day of the new year is falling on Monday, hence worshiping Lord Shiva on this day can be of special benefit. But during this time the seekers will have to take special care. Abhishek of Lord Shiva should be done with curd, milk and water. During this time, use a copper vessel and keep in mind that you should do a half-circumambulation of the Shivalinga. Also, applying make-up items like vermilion or roli tilak to Lord Shiva is prohibited.
