Streets across California—from state capital Sacramento through San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Sonora—became stages for vehement anti-ICE protests. The ‘ICE Out for Good’ initiative, backed by the ACLU and 50501 Movement, channeled widespread anger into visible action.
Roughly 500 in Pasadena converged on City Hall amid blaring horns, thunderous applause, and chants rejecting ICE alongside historical symbols of hate. Building on last year’s state-spanning demonstrations, these events demand permanent accountability.
Catalysts included the deadly shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother of three, by ICE personnel, and a Portland shooting that left two hospitalized. The 50501 Movement documented 32 ICE custody deaths in 2025, amplifying cries for justice.
Activist Diaz Allen addressed the crowd: ‘We’re forcing America to confront its flaws—join us in protest and remembrance.’ Jenny, an Australian migrant at the rally, decried ICE as unconstitutional, citing 14th Amendment breaches after reviewing graphic Minneapolis footage. ‘It’s terrorizing everyday people and immigrants alike,’ she warned.
As banners waved and voices unified, California’s protests reveal fractures in immigration policy, urging a reevaluation of ICE’s role and pushing for rights protections for all.
