Escalating border hostilities between Pakistan and Afghanistan have drawn sharp criticism from Baloch independence proponent Hyrbyair Marri, who reaffirmed Kabul’s right to self-determination.
Reacting to Pakistan’s military response to an Afghan counterstrike that reportedly decimated Pakistani ranks and captured bases, Marri issued a Friday statement blasting the actions as unprovoked aggression.
He connected the dots to ongoing Baloch and Pashtun suffering under Pakistani rule, decrying extrajudicial deaths. Marri highlighted the irony of Pakistan’s Ramadan complaints, given their own incursions on February 22.
On X, he interrogated Punjab’s moral authority: ‘Servants of invaders for eight centuries, now Islam’s guardians? What of the thousands of Baloch and Pashtuns killed without due process by your army?’
Islamabad’s reaction to Afghanistan’s India outreach—branding it a proxy—betrayed a possessive worldview, Marri argued. ‘No more backyard; Afghanistan is sovereign,’ he declared.
Pakistan’s history as a ‘beggar state’ serving outsiders undermines its Muslim defender claims, per Marri. Echoing deep historical bonds, he stood with Afghans: ‘Friends forever, defending one another against all odds.’
Amid volatile geopolitics, Marri’s intervention spotlights ethnic solidarity transcending borders.
