General Asim Munir, the current Army Chief of Pakistan, is confirmed to remain in his role until 2027. This follows his recent promotion to Field Marshal by the government after tensions with India. He is only the second Field Marshal in the country’s history, after Ayub Khan. The government has solidified his tenure, ensuring he remains in command until November 29, 2027. The official stance is that the term for all service chiefs – Army, Navy, and Air Force – has been extended to five years. This means once appointed, a chief will serve a full five-year term.
