The northwestern part of Pakistan is reeling from the impact of severe floods, resulting in a tragic loss of life. Within a span of 48 hours, the death toll has reached approximately 340, with 137 individuals reported injured. Rescue operations are underway in nine districts, including Buner, Swat, Shangla, Battagram, Bajaur, and Mansehra, with a task force of about 2,000 personnel involved in relief efforts. Saturday saw rescue teams extracting 63 bodies from the wreckage of homes destroyed by the floods and landslides. The weather department has issued a warning about the potential for intensified rainfall in the upcoming days. A resident of Buner, who managed to survive the floods, described seeing hundreds of stones and massive rocks carried away by the floodwaters. In Buner, hundreds of relief workers continue the search for survivors. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was hit hardest by torrential rains and a cloudburst on Friday, with many homes decimated by the resulting floods.
