PM Modi Receives Warm Welcome and Top Honor in Cyprus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus was marked by both traditional displays of respect and official recognition. A member of the Nicosia Council, Michaela Kythreoti Mhlapa, greeted PM Modi at the Centre of Nicosia with a customary gesture of touching his feet. PM Modi reciprocated with a blessing, acknowledging her cultural awareness. Furthermore, President Nikos Christodoulides awarded PM Modi the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, Cyprus’s highest honor, during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace. The award signifies outstanding service to the nation. PM Modi expressed his appreciation, emphasizing the honor’s connection to shared values between India and Cyprus. The visit, the first by an Indian PM in over two decades, also featured interactions with the Indian community and business leaders in the region.
