Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Namibia, with a focus on strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of trade and investment. Indian High Commissioner Rahul Shrivastava revealed that India is exploring uranium imports from Namibia and is keen on the country’s critical minerals and new oil and gas discoveries. The visit, marking the first by an Indian Prime Minister in nearly three decades, will include discussions on defense cooperation, with Namibia interested in acquiring defense equipment from India. The agenda also includes discussions on Project Cheetah 2 and enhancing capacity-building initiatives. Shrivastava highlighted the enduring relationship between India and Namibia, rooted in India’s support for Namibia’s independence, and emphasized India’s commitment to the Global South, positioning Africa as a crucial partner.
