Amethi. Before the Lok Sabha elections, the rhetoric regarding Congress leader Rahul has intensified. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has indicated that this time Rahul Gandhi will contest elections only from Amethi seat. Union Minister Smriti Irani has hit back on this. He said that I am happy that Rahul Gandhi will contest elections from Amethi without going to Wayanad and will not take the support of Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati.
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh said that CEC will decide who will contest from Amethi. However, he did not talk about Rahul not contesting the elections. Jairam said that Rahul Gandhi has been MP from Amethi thrice. His father Rajiv Gandhi also contested elections from this seat, hence it is a very important constituency for the Congress Party.

On Jairam Ramesh’s statement, Smriti Irani said that this should be announced immediately. Smriti Irani said, ‘I am happy that Jairam Ramesh has accepted my challenge that Rahul Gandhi is ready to contest elections from Amethi without the help of Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati. Being an ordinary worker of BJP, I welcome this challenge.
