Shortly after Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, reports surfaced of Israeli military strikes inside Iran. According to Press TV, the Israeli military targeted several locations. Trump’s statement on Truth Social claimed a ‘complete and total ceasefire’ would take effect shortly after the announcement. He optimistically stated that the war would be over within a day, praising both nations for their ‘stamina, courage, and intelligence.’ Despite these pronouncements, neither Iran nor Israel issued official statements confirming the agreement or the reported strikes. The conflict had escalated in the days prior, starting with Israeli airstrikes on Iranian sites and followed by Iranian retaliation, and US involvement with strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran then responded with missile attacks on US bases in the region.
