A wave of Russian attacks has hit Kharkiv, Ukraine, causing significant loss of life and destruction. Mayor Igor Terekhov stated the city experienced a barrage of explosions. These attacks followed a previous large-scale aerial assault. The recent strikes are thought to be retaliation for a Ukrainian drone operation. The attacks have targeted civilian areas, including an apartment block and a children’s playground, resulting in fatalities and injuries. Ukrainian officials reported further attacks using glide bombs, resulting in more casualties. President Zelensky has called for increased pressure on Russia in response to the attacks.
