Diplomatic gears are turning swiftly between India and the United States. On Sunday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar hosted a US congressional group in New Delhi, including Reps. Mike Rogers and Adam Smith, Jimmy Patronis, and Ambassador Eric Garcetti.
Focus areas spanned deepening bilateral engagement, Indo-Pacific trajectories, and the Ukraine situation. Jaishankar’s X update captured the essence: productive talks on key relations, regional matters, and conflict aspects, with congressional input deemed indispensable.
This comes hot on the heels of his January 18 Delhi meet with Senator Steve Daines, dissecting the strategic value of their ties in detail. Earlier, a January 13 call linked Jaishankar with Secretary Marco Rubio, appraising nuclear energy pacts, trade, and Indo-Pacific security.
Rubio lauded India’s sustainable nuclear bill, per US Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, who outlined opportunities for enhanced civil nuclear work, US investments, energy security advancement, and critical minerals fortification.
“Discussed trade, critical minerals, nuclear cooperation, defense and energy,” Jaishankar noted, committing to continued dialogue. Regional outlooks aligned on fostering a free Indo-Pacific.
Ambassador Garcetti praised the forward momentum on trade haggles, minerals, upcoming summits, and nuclear cooperation statutes.
In an era of flux, these engagements underscore resilient India-US synergy. By prioritizing energy, trade, defense, and stability, both powers are fortifying their alliance against global uncertainties, promising a stable Indo-Pacific horizon.
