The Taliban has rejected a request from former US President Donald Trump for the return of the Bagram Airbase. The Chief of Staff of the Taliban’s armed forces, Fasihuddin Fitrat, stated in Kabul that Afghanistan is now completely independent and free from external influence. He asserted that they do not fear any intimidation or aggression and will not concede any Afghan territory. The Taliban has stated that Trump’s demand is unacceptable and that any attempts to enforce it would be met with a robust response. This follows a warning from Trump on Truth Social, where he suggested that there could be negative repercussions if Afghanistan did not return the Bagram Airbase. Trump also highlighted the abandonment of Bagram Airbase as a critical error, allowing the Taliban to seize US military equipment and resources.
