Trump and Modi Discuss Ukraine and Trade During Birthday Call

US President Donald Trump telephoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to convey birthday wishes for his 75th birthday. Modi, in a post on X, thanked Trump and emphasized their shared dedication to elevating the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership, as well as supporting initiatives for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict. Trump, in a Truth Social post, also sent birthday greetings and thanked Modi for his support in ending the war. Concurrently, US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch was in India to discuss bilateral trade negotiations. Lynch’s meeting with Rajesh Agrawal, Special Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, focused on the next steps for a trade agreement, with both parties agreeing to accelerate their efforts to finalize a mutually beneficial deal.
