Donald Trump disputed the narrative that he suffered a ‘major defeat’ during the Alaska summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A statement on Truth Social saw Trump rebuking reports from various news sources, labeling them as ‘Fake News,’ which had suggested the summit resulted in a setback. Trump argued that the location of the summit was a crucial factor and that Putin would have preferred a different venue. He implied that the media, particularly those aligned with Democrats, would have criticized the summit regardless of its location. Trump also turned his attention to Democrats, alleging their support for crime in Democrat-controlled cities. He stated he would ensure the safety of these cities. The Alaska Summit was concluded in the days prior, with the aim of finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Trump shared his positive assessment of the summit and the importance of a peace agreement. He confirmed that discussions included the Ukrainian President, European leaders, and the NATO Secretary General, all agreeing on a peace agreement as the best path to resolve the conflict.
