Former President Donald Trump has announced that BRICS nations will face a 10% tariff on their goods. Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Trump alleged that the BRICS nations, which include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia, are attempting to weaken the US dollar. Trump stated that anyone within the BRICS group will pay a tariff because the bloc was formed to harm the dollar. He also stated that anyone that tries to challenge the dollar’s supremacy will face repercussions. Trump reiterated his belief in the strength of the US dollar, declaring, “The dollar is King.” New tariffs will be implemented on August 1, 2025, as his administration seeks bilateral trade agreements.
