Trump Promises to ‘Restore Order’ in Los Angeles Following Protests Over ICE Raids

In response to protests triggered by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in Los Angeles, President Donald Trump announced that he would restore order and ‘set Los Angeles free’. He has instructed the Secretary of Homeland Security, Secretary of Defense, and Attorney General to take immediate action to quell the ‘Migrant riots’ and ‘liberate Los Angeles from the migrant invasion’. The protests followed arrests of undocumented immigrants by ICE agents, leading Trump to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops. Trump characterized Los Angeles as having been ‘invaded’ by illegal aliens and criminals. Mayor Karen Bass, however, stated her confidence in the city’s law enforcement agencies to handle the situation. Governor Gavin Newsom criticized Trump’s response, calling it ‘purposefully inflammatory’ and a threat to public trust.
