The Trump administration’s actions are poised to create hardships for numerous American families. This year, the administration intends to eliminate around 300,000 government positions, leading to a substantial downsizing of the federal workforce. This was revealed by Scott Cooper, the new director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). The planned cuts would result in a reduction of approximately 12.5% in the federal workforce since January. According to Cooper, 80% of the departing employees will leave voluntarily, while 20% will face termination. This number is almost twice the 154,000 employees reported by Reuters last month who had opted for retirement packages.
