Ukraine has escalated its attacks on Russian oil refineries since August, targeting facilities in various locations including Novokuibyshevsk, Syzran, Ryazan, and Volgograd. The Ukrainian military has claimed responsibility for these attacks. Recent incidents include a drone strike on several oil refineries near Saratov on August 10th, followed by attacks on the Unecha pumping station on August 13th, a refinery in Volgograd on August 14th, and the Syzran oil refinery in Samara on August 15th. Additional attacks were reported on refineries in Novokuibyshevsk, Ryazan, and Krasnodar. A fire also erupted at an oil depot in Sochi, southern Russia.
