India has sharply criticized Pakistan at the United Nations, focusing on Islamabad’s human rights record and its history of supporting terrorism. Indian representatives refuted Pakistan’s assertions in both the UN Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly, calling them deceptive and a misuse of information. During the 34th meeting of the 60th session of the UNHRC in Geneva, Indian diplomat Mohammad Hussain pointed out, “It is highly ironic that Pakistan, of all countries, is attempting to lecture others on human rights. Pakistan should be dealing with the mistreatment of minorities within its own borders instead of spreading false information.” These comments were made in response to reports of an airstrike by Islamabad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which led to the deaths of at least 23 civilians. India emphasized its longstanding concerns about Islamabad’s handling of minorities and its inability to address internal human rights issues, a position also shared by various international observers.
